Job Summary

The EEG Technician is a vital member of our healthcare team, responsible for performing electroencephalogram (EEG) procedures under the supervision of a Registered EEG Technician and/or at the direction of an epilepsy care provider. This role requires a high level of technical accuracy and attention to detail, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform EEG procedures with precision and accuracy, ensuring that all necessary data is collected and documented.
  • Provide education and support to patients and families, explaining testing procedures and results in a clear and concise manner.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care coordination and effective communication.
  • Maintain equipment and troubleshoot technical issues to ensure optimal performance.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and legal requirements, adhering to Intermountain Healthcare's policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
  • Intermediate computer experience in word processing, spreadsheets, and email skills.
  • Intermediate skills using diagnostic equipment and hospital systems.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and independently.
  • Willingness to take call for EEG on-call rotation and respond/arrive within the department's designated timeframe.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Six months of EEG clinical experience.
  • Experience using neurodiagnostic equipment.
  • Current or prospective candidate of an ABRET recognized program.

Physical Requirements

This role requires the ability to see and read information, labels, and assess patient needs. Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors require verbal communication and hearing and understanding spoken information. Manual dexterity is necessary for manipulating complex equipment, and the ability to lift and carry supplies and equipment is required.
