Job DescriptionThe Early Childhood Education Assistant will provide support to the Lead Teacher and Director of the ECDC, ensuring a high-quality early childhood program. This position involves operational and instructional duties, including designing and implementing developmentally appropriate activities for preschool-age children, promoting physical, emotional, social, creative, and cognitive development, and maintaining a safe and healthy learning environment.
Key Responsibilities- Design and implement developmentally appropriate activities for preschool-age children
- Promote the development of children's physical, emotional, social, creative, and cognitive domains
- Assist in maintaining a safe and healthy learning environment, including classroom and center upkeep
- Prepare and clean up of classroom meals
- Actively seek to learn and implement new methods to support positive behaviors and utilize positive behavior guidance
- Assist in maintaining records of child attendance, illness, accidents, performance, and behaviors
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Two (2) years of related work experience
- Able to pass Criminal History Record and Child Abuse Record background checks
- High school diploma
- Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices for young children
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Responsible, organized, and reliable
We welcome applicants with:
- CDA, AD or BA in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field
- Knowledge of NAEYC, DAP, ECERS, and NJ Office of Licensing standards
- Knowledge of positive behavior guidance methods
The estimated salary for this position is $40,015, based on the national average for similar positions in the United States.
