The Virginia Department of Human Resource Management seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse to work in the Indian Creek Correctional Center. This is a full-time position with an annual salary range of $60,673 - $78,728.

- Provide evidence-based nursing care utilizing the nursing process, principles, practices, and techniques of general nursing care as determined by Standards of Practice under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
- Screen for sick call, administer medications, and provide first aid and basic life support to patients and employees as needed.
- Maintain open lines of communication with security and treatment staff while providing input and feedback to assist the facility provider in organizing a treatment plan.
- Record all pertinent information into the medical record. Interact with other departments as needed.
- Promote continued competence through education/certification with a focus on correctional nursing.
- Nurses must have the ability to work hours, days, and locations as assigned along with being capable and available to provide coverage as needed to meet institutional needs.
- Assignments to other duties or locations may be necessary to meet the clinical and administrative needs of the Department.
Requirements:

- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Must possess and maintain a valid unrestricted Virginia Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) license issued by the board of nursing or a multi-state compact license.
- Working knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques of practical or general nursing care.
- Demonstrated ability to screen complaints of physical ailments and refer necessary cases to other medical professionals.
- Ability to maintain appropriate documentation, provide first aid, and carry out providers' orders in applying treatments.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions and to administer practical nursing care.
- Certified Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers with current certification through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) is required upon hire.
