Job Summary
RINA, a global engineering consultancy firm with over 4,000 employees and 200 offices in 70 countries, is seeking an experienced Survey Manager to oversee survey projects and direct staff in the preparation of boundary surveys, record plats, easements, construction stakeouts, as-builts, and topographical surveys for projects. The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of experience in land surveying for various applications, including boundary determinations, topographic surveys, utility surveys, and subdivisions, and a Professional Surveyor and Mapping (PSM) or Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) certification.

About the Role
The Survey Manager will be responsible for managing a survey team, drafting and reviewing engineering surveys, topographic surveys, and boundary surveys, preparing or reviewing legal descriptions of areas surveyed, performing QA/QC of survey data, plats, and legal descriptions, managing workflow to provide cost-efficient survey processes, overseeing project costs, and preparing data for client input. Additionally, the candidate will prepare and maintain various client deliverables, including reports, plans, plats, deeds, and surveys, participate in business development activities, identify project opportunities, assist in developing proposals, and network and develop relationships with clients and others in the industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a survey team, including selection, promotion, employee performance assessment, coaching, and other matters related to employment.
  • Draft and/or review engineering surveys, topographic surveys, and boundary surveys.
  • Prepare or review legal descriptions of areas surveyed.
  • Perform and coordinate QA/QC of survey data, plats, and legal descriptions to ensure accuracy and completion in accordance with project scope and guidelines.
  • Manage workflow to provide cost-efficient survey processes.
  • Oversee project costs and prepare data for client input.
  • Prepare and maintain various client deliverables, including reports, plans, plats, deeds, and surveys.
  • Participate in business development activities, including identifying project opportunities, assisting in developing proposals, and networking with clients and others in the industry.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field of study.
  • 8+ years of experience in land surveying for various applications, including boundary determinations, topographic surveys, utility surveys, and subdivisions.
  • Professional Surveyor and Mapping (PSM) or Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) certification required.
  • 3+ years of experience overseeing a staff, including their professional development.
  • Proficiency in all aspects of land surveying, including boundary line and topographic survey, and construction stakeout.
  • Excellent oral and technical written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with using electronic instruments, field data collectors, GPS, and robotic instruments.
  • Working knowledge of computer-aided design (CAD) and other land development software to interpret and present information.
  • Experience utilizing customer relationship management (CRM), enterprise resource planning (ERP) software, project scheduling software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, Smartsheet), and construction management software (e.g., e-Builder and/or Procore).
Salary Estimate
The estimated salary range for this position is $90,000-$120,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
