We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Admissions Counselor to join our team at Longwood University. As a key member of our Admissions team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to prospective students and their families, assisting with the recruitment and enrollment process, and developing and implementing recruitment and yield plans within a geographic territory.
Key Responsibilities- Represent Longwood University to a diverse audience in a front-line capacity or at high schools, community colleges, and college fair programs
- Develop a travel schedule and recruitment and yield plan within a geographic territory to include managing relationships with high schools within the territory, assisting with implementing recruitment and yield plans
- Coordinate and implement on and off-campus events, working with various campus offices and academic departments, as well as external clients and vendors
- Develop and maintain communication with prospective students throughout the recruitment process
- Monitor recruitment, application, and enrollment activities within the territory
- Evaluate student applications and credentials and make admission decisions
- Coordinate, organize, and conduct presentations for group visits to campus
- Conduct presentations and tours for prospective students and families at weekday and weekend information sessions
- Assist with other admissions and recruitment activities
- Master's Degree preferred, or Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of work experience and/or training
- Valid driver's license
- Training and/or experience working with youth and diverse populations, sales, admissions, recruitment, or higher education
- Excellent oral and written communication, ability to address multiple audiences in a variety of small and large settings, organizational and interpersonal skills
- Attentive to detail, well organized, able to manage multiple priorities and work well under pressure
- Demonstrated ability to create a unique, high-touch customer service experience that consistently exceeds expectations
- Collaborative, energetic, and resourceful work style
- Ability to quickly learn and utilize different computer software and technologies
- Demonstrated sensitivity in working with students and families from diverse populations
- Must be available to work a schedule that includes frequent evenings, weekends, holidays, and out-of-town travel
