Job Responsibilities

As a Charge Nurse, you will play a critical role in providing excellent care and superior customer service to all residents on your unit. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assessing resident conditions to implement interventions and develop care plans
  • Accurately documenting observations for residents in Point Click Care (PCC) to ensure care plans are being followed
  • Ensuring facility medical records, policies, and procedures are adhered to
  • Rounding on residents regularly to observe and evaluate symptoms, progress, and reactions to treatments
  • Implementing interventions and medications as necessary
  • Providing preventative, supportive, maintenance, and rehabilitative care directed to the physiological and psychosocial needs of residents
  • Providing various treatments, including dressing changes, cleansing and/or irrigating wounds, performing foley catheter irrigations, IV therapy, and administering tube feedings
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must possess:

  • A current state license as a Licensed Practical Nurse
  • CPR certification
  • One year of professional nursing experience in the long-term care setting (desired, but not required)
  • Knowledge of applicable state nursing regulations (preferred)
Specific Skills and Qualifications

In addition to the requirements above, you should also have:

  • Knowledge of current federal and state laws and regulations that apply to the practice of nursing in a long-term care setting
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize responsibilities
  • The ability to apply mathematical concepts, such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions, to practical situations
  • Basic computer knowledge
