Job Summary

The University of Connecticut Foundation Inc is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Development, School of Fine Arts to join our team. As a key member of our development team, you will be responsible for generating philanthropic support for the School of Fine Arts, with a focus on major gifts and strategic partnerships.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors, with a focus on securing gifts of $100,000 and above.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve annual and long-range fundraising goals for the School of Fine Arts.
  • Collaborate with the Associate VP for Development, deans, directors, and faculty to identify and cultivate new prospects, and to translate university priorities into fundraising plans and goals.
  • Articulate the School's fundraising plans and goals to central development staff, and create opportunities to engage key volunteers and University leadership in the cultivation and solicitation of current and potential donors.
  • Perform administrative duties related to advancement work, including documenting activity, writing proposals, and inputting engagement plans in the relationship management database.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 5+ years of experience as a major gift fundraiser and/or relevant transferrable skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Ability to build productive, beneficial relationships with a broad range of constituencies.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to effectively communicate University priorities to donors and prospects.
  • Familiarity with the use of computers and information management tools, such as CRMs (Blackbaud).
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, to assess and order priorities, and to track details in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to engender trust and confidence of donors and prospective donors, and to maintain confidentiality of donor information.
  • Ability to work to the demands of the position, which may exceed a 40-hour work week.
  • Must be willing to travel extensively.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree.
  • Knowledge of the arts, collections, or conservation.
