Job Overview

The St. Louis Symphony Orchestra is seeking a skilled and innovative Chief Artistic Programming Officer to join its team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Music Director to develop and execute artistic programs that showcase the orchestra's musical excellence and diversity.
  • Plan and coordinate concerts, commissions, residencies, and tours, ensuring alignment with the orchestra's artistic vision and financial goals.
  • Engage guest conductors, artists, and repertoire to create compelling and diverse programming.
  • Cultivate relationships with agents, artists, publishers, and artistic partners to secure high-quality collaborations.
  • Supervise SLSO artist servicing, contract negotiation, administration, and expense tracking for all SLSO programs.
Requirements
  • Possession of a degree in music performance or music history, with 5 years of experience in artistic planning and programming.
  • Proven track-record of artistic quality, creativity, and innovation, preferably in an orchestra setting.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, research, and strategic planning skills.
  • Able to develop and sustain collaborative, productive, and professional relationships with internal and external colleagues and artists.
  • Technological proficiency, including the ability to quickly learn and utilize new software applications.
  • Attention to detail and strong written communication, with the ability to execute multiple plans effectively simultaneously and on time.
Salary and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $120,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on experience, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
