Job Overview

The Food Service Supervisor is responsible for supervising inmate labor and team members in the kitchen during food prep and service shifts. The ideal candidate will be passionate about food and service, have a solid understanding of food handling regulations, and be able to work as a team member while also adapting to changes quickly.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise inmate labor and team members in the kitchen during food prep and service shifts.
  • Prepare, assist, or instruct inmates and team members in preparing quality foods according to planned menus, recipes, and work instructions.
  • Ensure all food is stored properly and in a sanitary manner.
  • Serve food during planned meal schedules and follow department policies and procedures.
  • Utilize kitchen utensils and equipment to cook, prepare, and serve food according to recipes.
  • FOLLOW ALL FOOD SAFETY REGULATIONS PERTAINING TO SANITATION, FOOD HANDLING, AND STORAGE.
  • Train other food service workers.
  • Maintain a clean work area and environment, including cleaning refrigerators, freezers, cooking equipment, and serving equipment.
  • Follow facility uniform policy.
  • Keep up with garbage collection and keep kitchen floors clean from excess food/trash.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and at least 18 years of age.
  • Prior institutional food service or restaurant experience is preferred.
Estimated Salary Range

$20.00/hour

About This Position

This position is working inside the Monroe County Jail. The Food Service Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of inmate labor as well as team members assisting with the food service operation in a correctional facility.
