Job Description

As a Senior ASIC Design Lead at Idaho Scientific, you will be responsible for defining, designing, and deploying secure system solutions through novel CPU design, crypto cores, purpose-built system-on-a-chip architectures, and hardened operating systems.

We are seeking an experienced ASIC architect to lead our cross-functional team in the development of a RISC-V Application-Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) System on a Chip (SoC) product for defense and commercial applications based on Idaho Scientific's Helios secure RISC-V CPU. Your expertise will be crucial in transferring the existing RTL capability to a functioning, production-ready ASIC following the latest industry-standard design methodologies.

Key Responsibilities:
• Technical leadership of a cross-functional team in the definition, design, simulation, fabrication, and iteration of a RISC-V ASIC SoC product.
• Primary technical interface with pilot customers, internal engineering teams, and external subcontracted specialists to define and document product features, use cases, and functional requirements.
• Finalization and maintenance of the microarchitecture definition and associated documentation, including performance, I/O, power consumption, area utilization, recurring cost, and security functionality.
• Development and oversight of a comprehensive verification strategy, including testbench development, functional verification, and performance verification, ensuring adequate coverage and highest probability of first-pass success.
• Evaluation of new ASIC technologies and design methodologies for possible incorporation into the design.
• Prioritization and scheduling of a product roadmap that aligns with market need and competitive advantage.
• Decomposition of the product plan into actionable and trackable tasks, including design reviews and demonstrations.

Requirements:
Salary Range: $140,000 - $180,000 per year.

$90,000 is a reasonable estimate for salary based on location Boise, Idaho or Salt Lake City, Utah considering average salaries in these cities as well as experience required for this position, according to various job boards such as Indeed, Glassdoor and LinkedIn.

Required Qualifications & Experience include US Citizenship, proven work experience designing and fabricating an ASIC, more than 8 years of ASIC design and architecture experience, solid technical background, degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field, strong proficiency in RTL coding, ASIC design flow, and EDA tools, in-depth knowledge of ASIC architectures, and experience with industry-standard ASIC design methodologies and verification methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience include US Security Clearance, active or current within the last two years, in-depth understanding of microprocessor market and processor architectures, working knowledge of applied cryptography and cyber security topics, and experience applying principles of cyber security to operational technology and embedded systems.
