Job Overview

New England Cancer Specialists is a private medical practice seeking a full-time Medical Authorization Coordinator. This role will play a critical part in providing exceptional patient care and customer service by handling non-clinical administrative tasks, including obtaining timely authorizations from insurance carriers, scheduling appointments, and ensuring seamless communication between clinical staff.

This position offers a competitive salary of $65,000-$80,000 annually, depending on experience, as well as benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, short-term and long-term disability insurance, tuition reimbursement, paid time off, and 401(k) matching.

Responsibilities
  • Obtain pre-authorization from insurance carriers for office procedures, scans, and labs
  • Schedule necessary outpatient appointments, including scans, labs, and procedures
  • Forward medical records to insurance carriers
  • Scan documents into patient charts
  • Answer multi-line phones, triage calls, resolve issues, and answer questions
  • Manage appointment conflicts proactively
  • Prioritize work assignments and provide updates to team members
Requirements
  • Certificate of completion from an accredited program for CNA or Medical Assistant preferred
  • High School Diploma/GED with two or more years of experience in a healthcare environment required
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and customer/patient service experience required
  • Organizational and problem-solving skills, ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Previous experience using electronic medical records systems required
