Travel Nursing Specialist

Magnet Medical is a leading healthcare provider seeking an experienced travel nurse RN for a 13-week assignment in Yakima, Washington.
Job SummaryWe are looking for a skilled Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive care to patients in our Med Surg / Telemetry unit. The ideal candidate will have experience in telemetry monitoring and patient assessment.
Key Responsibilities:- Patient Assessment and Monitoring:
- Perform comprehensive assessments of patients, including evaluating vital signs and heart rhythms.
- Monitor and interpret telemetry data to detect any irregularities in heart rate and rhythm.
- Assess physical, emotional, and psychological needs of patients, developing individualized care plans.
- Medication Administration and Management:
- Administer prescribed medications, ensuring proper dosing and timing.
- Monitor patients for side effects and adverse reactions to medications.
- Provide pain management interventions and adjust care based on patient response.
- Telemetry and Cardiac Monitoring:
- Monitor patients with telemetry units to assess heart rate and rhythm.
- Assist in the interpretation of telemetry readings, ensuring prompt intervention for abnormal findings.
- Maintain and troubleshoot telemetry equipment.
- Wound Care and Post-Surgical Care:
- Provide post-operative care for surgical patients, including monitoring incision sites and managing drains.
- Perform dressing changes and educate patients on post-surgical care instructions.
- Administer treatments to manage complications such as deep vein thrombosis or infections.
- Patient Education:
- Educate patients and their families on disease management, medication regimens, and lifestyle modifications.
- Provide education on fall prevention, nutrition, activity restrictions, and discharge planning.
- Collaboration with Healthcare Team:
- Work closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare providers to implement and adjust patient care plans.
- Participate in daily rounds to discuss patient progress and care needs.
- Emergency Response and Critical Care:
- Respond promptly to medical emergencies, including cardiac arrests and respiratory distress.
- Provide immediate interventions, including CPR and advanced cardiac life support (ACLS).
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate documentation of assessments, interventions, and patient responses.
- Ensure that patient information is up-to-date and readily available for other healthcare professionals.
- Infection Control and Safety:
- Follow infection control protocols to prevent the spread of infections.
- Ensure patient safety by regularly assessing for fall risks and managing medications safely.
