Switchboard Coordinator

The Switchboard Operator is responsible for providing exceptional customer service to patients, physicians, and colleagues by operating the switchboard and utilizing various communication systems. This role requires strong communication and technical skills to ensure seamless communication and efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate the switchboard to answer and direct calls in a timely and courteous manner.
- Utilize Spok IntelliDesk computer software to manage paging, directory information, and emergency notifications.
- Program, exchange, and issue pagers using the Zetron Paging System.
- Coordinate on-call schedules and ensure they are up-to-date and distributed to relevant departments.
- Provide after-hours support for physician offices, Hospice, and Mercy Home Care.
- Respond to emergency situations and notify colleagues as needed.
- Maintain radio contact with security and engineering teams.
- Monitor security cameras and notify personnel as required.
- Assign room numbers to patient mail and forward mail to discharged patients.
- Communicate downtime or system slowdown notifications to colleagues.
- Provide directory information to patients and staff using online resources.
Weekdays/Weekends/Holidays 6:00am-2:00pm. Work every other weekend and every other holiday. Work four days each week of the two-week pay period. Must be able to fill in on all other shifts as needed.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of Business College coursework preferred.
- Required working knowledge of computer operations.
- Experience with switchboard operations is preferred.
- Keyboarding experience is preferred.
- Competitive wages, including weekend and night differentials.
