Job Summary

The Director of Finance will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). This role requires experience in financial management, partnership and corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, and internal control policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and a deep understanding of real estate and construction business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
  • Knowledge of US GAAP and other financial standards and requirements
  • Supervise month-end and year-end close process, including review of reports prior to distribution to stakeholders
  • Prepare timely monthly consolidated financial statements
  • Coordinate the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts, variance reports, and financial dashboards
  • Prepare regulatory reporting, including annual and periodic review audits
  • Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Research technical accounting issues for compliance and CFO as needed
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Understanding of taxation, payroll, and other fiscal aspects of a business
  • Assist CFO with management of all accounting operations
  • Additional duties as necessary

Requirements

  • 5+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience
  • CPA required
  • Experience with construction organizations preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
  • Experience with financial statement preparation for all types of legal entities
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process and consolidations
  • Experience in preparing and reviewing partnership, corporate, payroll, and tax filings
  • Experience with various accounting software administration
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively
