Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Deckhand Officer to join our team at Centerline Logistics Corporation. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe operation of our tug and barge vessels, as well as providing exceptional service to our customers.

With a strong presence on the West Coast, East Coast, Gulf Coast, and Mississippi River System, we offer a wide range of services including tanker escort, ship assist, general cargo transportation, and rescue towing.
The Role:
This position requires a highly motivated individual with excellent communication and leadership skills. As a Deckhand Officer, you will be responsible for overseeing the safety of the vessel, including inspections and maintenance of equipment. You will also be expected to work closely with the Captain to ensure seamless operations and effective decision-making.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Stands wheelhouse watch alternating with the Captain
- Oversees safety of the vessel, including inspections and maintenance of equipment
- Maintains chart corrections and light lists for Area of Operations
- Instructs deckhands on the use of tools and machinery onboard
- Assists the Captain in barge landings and communicates distances and directions accurately
- Determines the need for and assigns lookouts as necessary
- Inspects the vessel for cleanliness
- Inventory supplies and orders as needed
- Monitors onboard usage to ensure efficient supply utilization
- Performs other related duties as required
Requirements:
- Minimum 200 Ton Mate License Near Coastal
- Mate of Towing Endorsement Near Coastal
- Radar observer endorsement and Coast Guard approved firefighting training
- Ability to understand and use information in cargo information cards and material safety data sheets
- Possess a valid first aid/CPR certificate
- Complete HAZWOPER training within 30 days of hire
- Valid state driver license
Work Environment:
- Must be able to live in confined spaces and get along with crew members for extended periods
- Must be able to perform physical functions set forth in the attached job analysis and be physically fit enough to pull heavy lines/hoses, lift, carry heavy items, kneel while painting, climb onto barges and up and down ladders, and bend and twist during boat/barge tie-up
- Exposure to all weather conditions (rain, ice, snow, heat, wind, heavy seas, etc.)
- Must not be afraid of heights
Compensation and Benefits:
We offer a competitive salary range of $85,000 - $115,000 per year, depending on experience, as well as a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability insurance, sick pay, vacation pay, and paid holidays. Additionally, we offer 401(k) options and healthcare/dependent care FSAs.
