Job Overview

We are seeking a Medical Support Specialist to join our team at Ascension St. Vincent in Indiana. As a Medical Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare professionals.

Job Description

The Medical Support Specialist will assist with the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a provider (Physician or Advanced Practice Provider). Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with treatments ordered by providers as supervised by providers or registered nurses
  • Performing select clinical duties
  • Interviewing patients, measuring vital signs, and recording information on patients' charts
  • Preparing treatment rooms for examinations of patients
  • Performing basic clerical duties, including answering phones, maintaining records, and filing
  • Performing basic materials management functions, including ordering and stocking supplies
  • Assisting with maintaining a clean and orderly environment
  • May document providers' encounters with patients
  • Listing all proper diagnoses and symptoms, as well as follow-up instructions and prescriptions, as indicated by providers
  • Transcribing patient orders, including laboratory tests, radiology tests, and medications

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful as a Medical Support Specialist, you must have:

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required from American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Medical Assistant certification or registration obtained within 3 months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date required
  • High school diploma equivalency or 1 year of applicable cumulative job-specific experience required

Salary

We estimate the salary for this position to be around $45,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
