Job Summary

The Director of Development is a key member of the Longy School of Music team, responsible for leading the development and fundraising efforts to support the school's mission and goals. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, who can build strong relationships with donors, stakeholders, and team members.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy to meet Longy's revenue goals
• Build and maintain relationships with major donors, foundations, and corporate partners
• Collaborate with the Artistic team to ensure concerts and events are attended by Development staff and prospective donors
• Work with the development and marketing teams to create new methods for communication with existing and prospective patrons
• Prepare compelling, personalized proposals that appeal to benefactors

Requirements

• At least five years' experience in leadership/major gifts, campaign, or annual fundraising, preferably in higher education or the arts
• A track record of achieving ambitious goals by identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and closing major gifts from individuals
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent writing ability and organizational skills
• Familiarity with development software and reporting; Raiser's Edge preferred
