Gastroenterology Nurse Specialist

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Registered Nurse III - GI to join our team at the Lemuel Shattuck Hospital. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and support in the GI Endoscopy room, ICU, OR, and Nursing units.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess, monitor, and discharge patients with IV Conscious Sedation in GI, X-ray, and OPD.
- Collaborate with medical staff to prepare patients for procedures with IVCS.
- Provide emergent care during invasive procedures for acutely ill GI patients in ICU.
- Perform phlebotomies.
- Act as GI Charge Nurse in their absence.
- Schedule inpatient and outpatient procedures for the Endoscopy Room.
- Provide direct patient care during GI special procedures, monitoring pre-op, intra-op, and post-op phases.
- Maintain and care for endoscopy equipment and supplies.
- Collaborate with DMH and DOC facilities to ensure continuity of GI patient care.
- Act as a contact person for GI service referrals.
- Conduct patient and family teaching.
- Assist in GI clinic and other OPD clinics as assigned.
Requirements:
- Current and valid registration as a professional nurse under the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing.
- Recent graduates from an approved school of nursing must have applied for the first available registered nurse examination.
- Based on assignment, possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator's license may be required.
