About the Role:

The Salvation Army USA Western Territory is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Youth Program Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a vital role in providing safe and developmentally appropriate before and after school programs for youth.

Job Summary:

We are looking for an individual who shares our passion for serving children and youth. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, be able to work well under pressure, and have experience working with diverse groups of people. In this role, you will be responsible for implementing morning activities, supervising children, and maintaining a safe and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement morning activities involving children 6-12 at Carson City Public schools, ensuring their safety and supervision within the public-school setting.
  • Provide constant supervision of children while involved in Salvation Army programs.
  • Treat each child with dignity and respect, enhancing their self-esteem through positive interactions.
  • Assist with opening and closing recreational facilities, monitor facility use, and prepare settings for activities.
  • Attend all staff meetings and participate in conferences and other programs conducive to professional growth.
  • Maintain accurate records on daily attendance and snack counts.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned by superiors.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of two years of experience working with youth in a related environment or field is preferred.
  • An enthusiasm for children and youth, with a zeal and vision for youth ministry that aligns with The Salvation Army's overall philosophy and goals.
  • General office skills, including computer proficiency, reading, proofreading, typing, filing, correct spelling and grammar usage, and telephone operation.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • The ability to work effectively with supervisors, colleagues, community members, and guests/clients.
  • Able to function in a fast-paced, frequently changing environment.
  • The capacity to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Competency in Microsoft Word, Publisher, and Excel.
  • Must pass a criminal background check and required certification for The Salvation Army's 'Protecting The Mission' child safety program.
  • Current pediatric CPR and First Aid certifications are mandatory.
  • A Class C license for transporting children is desirable.

Salary and Benefits:

The estimated salary for this position is $45,000 - $55,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. Our comprehensive benefits package includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, and opportunities for professional growth and development.
