Property Accountant Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Property Accountant to join our team at Grubb Properties, a vertically integrated real estate company. As a key member of our property accounting department, you will play a crucial role in managing the financial aspects of our properties.

Job DescriptionThis is an exciting opportunity for an experienced accountant to work with our property teams, handling full-spectrum accounting responsibilities, including bank account management, monthly financial reports, and liaison support. You will be responsible for preparing detailed financial documents, managing external auditor interactions, processing management fees, and assisting property managers with expense analysis and CAM reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports highlighting property performance and financial trends.
- Maintain accurate audit schedules and engage with external auditors to ensure compliance.
- Calculate and process management fees according to established guidelines.
- Support property managers in analyzing expenses, making adjustments, and resolving discrepancies.
- Complete monthly bank reconciliations, verify cash balances, and identify any irregularities.
- Manage weekly accounts payable check runs and resolve payment issues in a timely manner.
- Oversight of the monthly closing process, ensuring deadlines are met and all necessary steps are taken.
- Ensure accurate recording of journal entries and provide supporting documentation as required.
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and review owner distributions to guarantee accuracy.
- Process lender reserve draws, assist with budget preparation, and maintain fixed asset depreciation schedules.
To succeed in this role, you must possess:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
- A minimum of 1-3 years of accounting experience, preferably in property accounting.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Experience with Yardi or similar software is desirable.
In exchange for your expertise and dedication, we offer a competitive salary range of $60,000 - $80,000 per annum, depending on your qualifications and experience. This position also offers opportunities for growth and professional development within a dynamic and collaborative work environment.
