About the Role

As a Higher Education Construction Superintendent, you will be responsible for overseeing the construction of higher education projects from start to finish. This includes ensuring that all work is completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the contract documents, schedule, and project estimate.
  • Confer with Preconstruction Services regarding means and methods, systems, schedule, and general conditions.
  • Assign and monitor members of the project team to various tasks at the start and throughout all phases of the project.
  • Establish, implement, manage, and enforce the Safety Program and the Site Specific Safety Plan on the project.
  • Establish, implement, manage, and enforce the Quality Assurance Program and comprehensive quality control.
  • Inspect work in progress to ensure that workmanship conforms to specifications and contract documents.
  • Establish an effective and professional on-site working relationship with the owner, architects, engineers, and inspectors related to the project.
  • Prepare and distribute Project Daily Reports.
  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of Critical Path Method and Lean Process Scheduling.
  • Develop recovery plans to mitigate any delays to the critical path of the project.
  • Monitor the development of the project expediting log and ensure that staff is updating the log weekly.
  • Ensure the Project Engineers are prepared to update the project schedule procurement activities accordingly.
  • Maintain a current and updated set of drawings in the field and help ensure that our Trade Partner personnel are using the same.
  • Develop and implement techniques, methods, and systems for the project.
  • Demonstrate effective management of our Trade Partners in a manner that is conducive to a successful and timely project completion.
  • Establish project pre-planning activities to ensure coordinated efforts and outcomes in the field.
  • Conduct Weekly Safety Meetings and Trade Partner Coordination Meetings.
  • Establish and maintain a process for 'work to complete' and 'pre-punch' lists throughout the project duration.
  • Establish and maintain a process for managing the completion of pre-punch and Architect/Owner punch-lists.
  • Assist with close-out procedures in accordance with the contract documents and procedure manual.

Requirements
  • 5+ years of Site Superintendent experience.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
  • OSHA 30 certificate or ability to attain it within 12 months of hire.
  • Experience with higher education, K-12, or public projects.
  • Experience with scheduling.
  • Proficient in MS Office Platforms and Procore.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to influence, negotiate, and drive project schedules.
  • Knowledge of all elements of commercial construction and understanding of skilled trades.
