The City of Chesapeake is seeking a highly skilled Warehouse Operations Coordinator to maintain and execute daily warehouse operations, providing exceptional customer service to department staff and partnering city departments. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of warehouse logistics, inventory management, and customer service principles.

About the RoleThis position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of three months of full-time equivalent experience in a related field. The Warehouse Operations Coordinator will be responsible for material handling, process received stock, prepare orders for delivery/pick-up, inventory control, load and unload supplies and stock, and maintain warehouse safety standards.

Main Responsibilities• Provides customer service that meets the City's Customer Service Initiative, interacting with internal customers, the public in person, by telephone, and electronically
• Checks and records quantity and quality of inventory items received against invoices and reports discrepancies; unpacks and stores items; enters items into database
• Initiates purchase orders for replacement of standard stock items in accordance with established procedures; follows up on outstanding orders
• Assembles, records, packages, and delivers stock items to user departments; issues stock and tools to individuals
• Drives truck to deliver supplies/materials to various city facility locations and may pick up parts/equipment from facilities or suppliers
• Operates forklift, hand truck, and pallet jack to safely move, stage, palletizing and secure materials/supplies

Requirements• High school diploma or GED and any combination of education and experience equivalent to satisfactory completion of one year of college education
• A minimum of three months of full-time equivalent experience in a related field
• Valid driver's license and a driving record that is in compliance with the City's policy

BenefitsThe City of Chesapeake offers a competitive salary range of $35,000-$45,000 per year, depending on experience. Additionally, employees may be eligible for benefits such as health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
