At Christus Health, we are committed to providing exceptional patient care. We are seeking a skilled Paramedic to join our Emergency Department team as a Critical Care Medical Transport Specialist.

Salary: $60,000 - $80,000 per year

Job Description

This is a Per Diem As Needed position, with opportunities for advancement and growth within the organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting patients to radiology and nursing units, utilizing appropriate transport and monitoring equipment.

The Paramedic will work collaboratively with the nursing staff to provide patient care in accordance with training, competence, and skill. They will assist in maintaining a clean, well-organized, adequately stocked, and safe patient environment.

Responsibilities
  • Completely operate patient monitoring equipment, record rhythm strips, run 12 lead EKGs, biomarkers, and glucometer readings under the direction of a licensed physician
  • Perform phlebotomy, collect laboratory specimens as ordered, and insert saline lock, Foley catheter, and nasal gastric tubes under the direction of a licensed physician
  • Assist in patient care, obtain and document vital signs, provide patient hygiene, maintain clear and respectful communications with patients, families, and the healthcare team
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment, manage all assigned supplies and equipment
  • Demonstrate proficiency in setting up and performing procedures as delegated
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have a High School Diploma and hold a valid EMT-P License in the state of employment. A BLS certification is also required.
