Highly Skilled PCU Travel Nurse Opportunity in Spokane, WA

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Travel Nurse to join our team at Travel Nurse Across America. The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years of recent acute care experience and be able to provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.
Job DescriptionAs a PCU Travel Nurse, you will be responsible for caring for patients who require close monitoring and frequent assessment, but are not unstable enough to need ICU care. This role involves utilizing computer equipment to monitor cardiac and other vital information, detecting any changes and enabling intervention in life-threatening or emergency situations.
The PCU RN is sometimes also referred to as a step-down nurse, and the PCU is also known as cardiac stepdown, medical stepdown, neuro stepdown, surgical stepdown, and ER holding. As a PCU Travel Nurse, you should be prepared to perform the following tasks:
- Provide basic bedside care; stabilize critical cardiac patients.
- Change dressings, insert catheters, and start IVs.
- Prepare, administer, and record prescribed medication, reporting any adverse reactions to treatment.
- Monitor and adjust specialized equipment used on patients, and interpret and record electronic displays.
- Initiate corrective action whenever information from monitoring equipment shows adverse symptomatology.
You will be required to stand and walk for long periods of time, bend, lean, and stoop without difficulty. You should be able to easily lift 20 pounds, and moving or lifting of patients may require lifting of up to 50 pounds at times. Due to the fast-paced environment, PCU Travel Nurses must possess good skills for coping with stress and be able to relate to people of all ages and backgrounds.
RequirementsTo be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following qualifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
- 2 years of recent acute care experience
Please note that additional certifications may be required before beginning an assignment.
