Tax Technology Strategist

Job Summary:

The Data Solutions Manager is a critical role that will be responsible for managing the growth and evolution of the company's data and reporting, including enterprise application databases, current and future reporting tools, and websites, including ensuring appropriate maintenance and support.

We are seeking an individual who thrives on building effective business relationships, has a customer-driven focus and strong follow-up skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leads and oversees the strategy and execution of data management and reporting solutions, aligning with the company's goals for digital transformation of BDO tax
  • Fosters an environment of innovation within the team, encouraging the exploration and adoption of new technologies and methodologies
  • Ensures careful analysis of requirements with internal or external customers to understand their tax data and reporting needs
  • Analyzes tax data contained in the database to identify tax data transformation and reporting issues with existing data and proposed system tools
  • Documents detailed specifications for each automation solution including both the technical specifications and a summary to the business requirements
  • Creates, edits, and reviews Alteryx workflows to automate tax data manipulation and generate outputs designed in the requirements
  • Develops and reviews dynamic reports that enable end users to filter and aggregate defined parameters according to their needs, and custom reports
  • Creates and reviews report subscriptions, dashboards, and other data-driven platforms
  • Proactively identifies and communicates dependencies, issues, risks, and/or barriers to completing assignments, and escalates to appropriate project stakeholders and, or supervisors; owns accountability for supporting and contributing to the management of project scope, schedule, and quality within the respective team/area
  • Analyzes how workflow decisions translate into business requirements; designs appropriate solutions within parameters communicated by project engagement leaders
  • Tests and documents the tax automation solutions or reviews such documentation before it goes to project engagement leaders
  • Other duties as required

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the work design product and development of Senior Associates with automation data solution skillsets

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree required; with a focus in Accounting, Computer Science, Information Technology or Information systems preferred

Experience:

  • Six (6) or more years of experience in tax, tax technology or Alteryx software, required
  • Experience delivering data analytics and intelligence solutions in a Tax environment, preferred
  • Relational and Dimensional Data Model and Data Modeling experience (Conceptual & Logical), preferred

License/Certifications:

  • Designer Advanced or Expert Certification successfully completed within six (6) months of hire, required
  • Azure/Power Platform certification, preferred

Software:

  • Two (2) or more years of experience with Power Apps, Power Automate, SQL Server, Power Query, and Power BI, preferred
  • Experience with advanced Python skills, preferred
  • Familiarity with Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, preferred
  • Experience with other languages such as SQL, HTML, XML, JavaScript, CSS, API, preferred
