Director of Internal Audit

Salary: $115,000 to $204,750 per year.

About the Role:

We are seeking a seasoned professional to lead our internal audit function and provide strategic risk management guidance to the organization. The Director of Internal Audit will be responsible for assessing and managing financial and operational risks, evaluating the effectiveness of internal controls, and providing recommendations for improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement a comprehensive internal audit plan that aligns with the organization's strategic objectives.
  2. Lead a team of internal auditors in conducting audits, reviewing financial statements, and identifying areas for improvement.
  3. Collaborate with senior management and the Board of Regents to ensure effective risk management and governance practices.
  4. Analyze complex data and draw logical conclusions to inform business decisions.
  5. Maintain current knowledge of auditing standards, laws, and regulations, as well as industry best practices.
  6. Pursue professional development opportunities to enhance skills and stay up-to-date on emerging trends and technologies.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Ten years of experience in accounting and/or auditing, with at least five years in a supervisory or project management capacity.
  • Professional certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent.
  • Extensive knowledge of GAAP, GASB standards, GAGAS, and federal Uniform Guidance requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively.
