Job Summary:

The Department of Public Health is seeking a highly skilled Health Facilities Evaluator Nurse to conduct inspections, investigations, surveys, and evaluations of health facilities for conformity with licensing and certification requirements. As a key member of our team, you will advise healthcare facility administrators and community agencies regarding State health facilities inspections, licensing, and certification programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-depth surveys of healthcare facilities to determine compliance with state licensing and federal certification requirements.
  • Document interviews of relevant patient information, ensuring patient confidentiality.
  • Makes a determination of healthcare facilities' compliance with state and federal laws and regulations based on survey findings and observations.
  • Prepare written comprehensive deficiencies when deemed appropriate.
  • Develop and present written and verbal testimony to provide support for civil monetary penalties.
  • Respond to legal actions as an expert witness on matters relating to state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to patient care and the healthcare delivery system.

Requirements:

  • Valid Registered Nursing (RN) license as required by the Minimum Qualifications of the HFEN classification.
  • Ability to travel extensively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Working Conditions:

This position is located in the city of Richmond. The selected candidate must have a primary residency in the state of California prior to appointment and continue to maintain California residency as a condition of employment.
