Academic Leadership Role at Uncommon Schools

Job Overview:
Uncommon Schools NYC seeks an experienced leader to serve as Dean of Curriculum. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about education and dedicated to driving student achievement.
About the Role:
The Dean of Curriculum will play a critical role in supporting teachers and instructional leaders to deliver high-quality academic experiences for students. This position involves leading data-driven instruction, providing feedback and teacher development, and fostering a whole school culture that promotes academic excellence.
Responsibilities:
- Data-Driven Instruction:
Data Analysis
The Dean of Curriculum will conduct in-depth analysis of data to inform instruction and drive student achievement. This includes analyzing daily student work samples, building action plans, and implementing materials and systems to address data gaps.
Assessment Cycles
The Dean of Curriculum will oversee assessment cycles, ensuring that assessments are of high quality, and students are well-prepared. This includes facilitating Interim Assessment scoring and norming, developing pre- and post-analysis of IAs, and supporting Instructional Leaders with data analysis.
Mission-Alignment
The Dean of Curriculum will demonstrate a passionate commitment to improving the minds and lives of students. This includes participating in Inspections, school walkthroughs, working groups, and CAT quarterly walkthroughs.
Qualifications:

Educational Background:
The Dean of Curriculum must have a Bachelor's Degree and 3+ years of teaching experience with evidence of outstanding student growth and achievement.
Instructional Coaching:
The Dean of Curriculum must have demonstrated instructional coaching capabilities that contribute to teacher growth and development.
Content Knowledge:
The Dean of Curriculum must have strong content knowledge across multiple gradespans or content areas.
Compensation and Benefits:
Our compensation philosophy reflects our values—equity, transparency, and clarity—to enhance our ability to attract and retain talent. We offer competitive compensation ranging from $80,000 - $118,900 based on experience, along with comprehensive benefits, including paid time off, extensive training and development, and a 403(b) retirement savings program.
