Cheese Connoisseur and Retail Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Cheese Connoisseur and Retail Specialist to join our team at Fred Meyer in Portland, Oregon. This is a full-time position with a competitive salary of $45,000 - $55,000 per year.

The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a unique and engaging Murray's Cheese Shop experience that embodies the company's passion for food, cheese knowledge, interactive customer service, and industry-leading merchandising. The role requires working closely with the in-store Murray's Cheese Master to develop a dynamic environment that showcases outgoing, personal, and theatrical cheese retailing.

• Cutting, wrapping, and merchandising cheese and related grocery items
• Active demoing within the Murray's Cheese Shop, Deli, and other areas
• Providing proactive customer service through ongoing conversations and tastings
• Daily cheese tastings to develop product expertise and a willingness to taste cheese every day
• Contribution to target sales and gross profit goals
• Following health, safety, and sanitation guidelines for all products
• Compliance with Murray's operations manual and ensuring consistently fully stocked, fresh, signed, and rotated product selection
• Completion of Murray's Basic Skills Training and Murray's Red Jacket Training
• Creation and maintenance of the Murray's Boutique experience, including education, service, effective cross-selling, merchandising, pushing, and promoting designated products

• A strong desire to learn and enthusiasm for the product
• An interest in and openness to trying new and innovative approaches
• Easily conveying ideas at the appropriate level based on audience
• Retail experience
• Super Foodie and supportive of cheese business initiatives
• Able to inspire and motivate customers while ensuring successful completion of assigned tasks
