Mount Mary University Assistant Professor of Art Therapy Opportunity

We are seeking an accomplished educator and art therapist to join our faculty team at Mount Mary University. This tenure-track position offers a unique opportunity for a dedicated professional to make a meaningful impact on the lives of students and contribute to the growth of our Graduate Art Therapy program.

About the Role:

This full-time faculty position is responsible for teaching graduate-level art therapy courses, developing curriculum, and mentoring students. The successful candidate will have a strong background in art therapy education and a commitment to promoting inclusivity and cultural competence. As a member of our faculty team, you will be expected to participate in departmental service, including applicant reviews and interviewing, as well as contributing to the development of our graduate program.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teach a range of graduate art therapy courses, incorporating effective teaching practices and assessments to promote student learning and success.
  • Develop and implement curriculum that aligns with the mission and goals of our graduate program, ensuring students receive a comprehensive education in art therapy.
  • Mentor students in academic advising, providing guidance and support to ensure their academic success and personal growth.
  • Contribute to departmental service, including applicant reviews, interviewing, and other responsibilities as assigned by the department chair.
Requirements:
  • Ph.D. or D.A.T. (Doctor of Art Therapy) strongly preferred, Master's degree in Art Therapy required.
  • A.T.R.-B.C. certification required, or plan to acquire within the first three months of hire.
  • At least five years of experience working as an art therapist, preferably with teaching experience at the graduate level.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working as an art therapist in multiple settings, including clinical and community-based environments.
  • Eligibility for Wisconsin counseling license.
  • Significant experience in leadership, education, and research or scholarship.
