Event and Convening Manager Job Description

Stanford University is seeking a highly skilled Event and Convening Manager to join our team. This role will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing a diverse range of events, from routine internal events and meetings to public webinars and high-profile donor meetings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Initiate and lead meetings with stakeholders to plan scope and format of events
  • Develop professional customer-focused relationships with event clients
  • Coordinate teams that plan, implement, and manage all aspects of events
  • Oversee budget planning, monitoring, and management of events
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external partners
  • Procure and coordinate vendor services
  • Review administrative procedures and ensure compliance with university policies
  • Research and provide recommendations for potential event locations
  • Investigate, document, and report complaints regarding all aspects of events

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience
  • Demonstrated success managing event teams and planning, developing budgets, and meeting budget goals
  • Excellent project management skills, and the ability to manage complex timelines and multiple projects
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, time management, and customer service skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Stanford University systems and policies
  • Experience planning and coordinating a wide-variety of events
  • Experience with project/constituent management tools such as Cvent and Salesforce
