Job Summary

This is a key role at San Juan College, responsible for ensuring compliance with state and federal laws regarding accessibility. The Accessibility Services Coordinator will work closely with college personnel to promote institutional safety policies and procedures.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Promote college compliance with relevant state and federal laws, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Collaborate with other college personnel on institutional safety policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate academic accommodations for students; assess student needs, determine eligibility, and approve and coordinate academic accommodations; monitor support systems for students with disabilities; facilitate communication between faculty, campus departments and students that support student success.
  • Oversee the operations of the Accessibility Services Office in person; oversee the functions of the Accessibility Services Accessibility Training Specialist; manage the office budget; set program goals.
  • Maintain electronic records and assess accommodation services.
  • Perform outreach to community resources, including area schools.
  • Maintain the Accessibility Services Handbook.
  • Hire, train, coach, supervise, evaluate staff and student workers.
  • Prepare and present workshops for students, staff and faculty.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of Americans with Disabilities Act requirements and regulations.
  • Knowledge of state and federal guidelines related to the provision of academic accommodations for students with disabilities.
  • Knowledge of assistive technology for students with disabilities.
  • Knowledge of budget management principles.
  • Knowledge of personnel management principles.
  • Knowledge of college policies and procedures.
  • Skill in the operation of computers and job-related software programs.
  • Skill in decision making and problem solving.
  • Skill in interpersonal relations and in providing excellent customer service.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Skill in working effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
Salary and Benefits:

The estimated annual salary for this position is $52,501-$60,000, depending on qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will also receive a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
