Director Employee Relations Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Director Employee Relations Specialist to lead our labor relations programs at Johns Hopkins University. Reporting to the Senior Director, Employee & Labor Relations, this position will manage all aspects of labor relations, including contract administration, grievance resolution, and fostering positive relations with labor unions.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Serve as a subject matter expert in labor relations and provide guidance to management on complex labor matters.
  2. Develop and implement labor relations training strategies to ensure managers and supervisors have the necessary knowledge to effectively manage labor relations.
  3. Lead negotiations with labor unions and participate in collective bargaining teams to develop negotiating strategy and propose final CBA language.
  4. Manage a team of labor relations specialists and oversee their day-to-day activities while providing direction and guidance to assist in resolving escalated and complex labor relations issues.
  5. Analyze labor relations data and trends to provide insights and recommendations to senior management.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Business Administration or related field.
  2. Seven years of experience in labor relations, including significant experience in collective bargaining, contract administration, and counseling management.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Master's Degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Business Administration or related field or Juris Doctor (JD).
  2. Previous experience in a higher education environment.

Salary Information

The starting salary for this position is $141,500 annually, commensurate with experience. The university offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
