Care Coordination Operations Manager Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Care Coordination Operations Manager to oversee and guide the daily management of our Care Coordination Department. This role is pivotal in ensuring that all aspects of care coordination, including information and referral services, benefit eligibility, recertification, authorizations, quality assurance, and customer relations, are executed effectively and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operations Management (50%):
    • Oversee day-to-day operations of the Care Coordination Department, ensuring timely and accurate workflow and benefit determinations.
    • Enhance operational management systems and implement best practices to improve efficiency.
    • Develop, manage, and monitor departmental budgets and forecasts, using financial data to inform strategies that enhance customer experience and reduce costs.
    • Ensure that policies, procedures, workflows, and training manuals are created, maintained, and effectively communicated.
    • Implement reporting dashboards and track care coordination metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement.
    • Collaborate with customer service to resolve complex care coordination inquiries.
    • Interface with auditors, providing necessary information and demonstrating sound judgment in interactions.
  • People Management (40%):
    • Lead the ongoing coaching, training, and development of the Care Coordination team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
    • Conduct weekly meetings with direct reports to discuss progress, challenges, and departmental objectives.
    • Collaborate with team leads to develop individual performance objectives that align with department goals.
    • Manage employee performance effectively, including delivering evaluations and feedback.
    • Actively participate in recruitment to attract and retain top-quality talent.
    • Engage with the team to monitor and enhance employee engagement and morale.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration (10%):
    • Represent the Care Coordination Department on assigned projects and initiatives.
    • Participate in cross-functional meetings to streamline processes and enhance interdepartmental collaboration.
    • Undertake special projects as assigned, contributing to overall departmental goals and objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Thorough knowledge of long-term care business, product, and marketplace; LTCI experience preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in insurance operations required.
  • 5+ years of previous management/supervisory experience and proven ability to manage people and provide effective coaching required.
