Key Account Specialist Job Description

As a Senior Key Account Specialist at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas, you will play a critical role in the planning, organizing, and development of association groups. You will work closely with the association director, manager, and consultant(s) to ensure the successful management of association business.

Responsibilities:
  • Plan and coordinate activities for large association accounts, managing daily operations and communication for assigned groups.
  • Prepare proposals in response to Request for Proposals (RFPs), overseeing proposal and renewal rating processes, including calculations of rates and premium comparisons.
  • Perform service and retention functions for consultant's assigned accounts, explaining benefit options, regulations, and laws associated with association sales and enrollment.
  • Act as liaison to provide accurate information and quality customer service, addressing inquiries, complaints, and concerns in a timely manner.
  • Work with various internal teams to resolve inquiries related to benefits, claims, and billing, assisting field personnel in understanding policies and procedures.
  • Develop and recommend improvements for sales materials and aids, maintaining and monitoring sales aids for effectiveness.
  • Assist in staff training on large association guidelines, observing compliance with corporate standards and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Manage high volumes of emails and inquiries, coordinate travel and meeting schedules for consultants, and oversee the distribution of open season materials.
  • Track weekly wins/losses and compile monthly goal reports for regions.
  • Oversee Custom Benefit requests, including sending, tracking, and recording requests, managing exceptions process with management oversight.
Requirements:
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three years' work experience in sales coordination, office administration, and/or a business operations position.
  • Requires the ability to acquire and maintain a State of Kansas Insurance Agent's license within 60 days of employment and must maintain license throughout employment with BCBSKS.
  • Experience in coordinating work in cross-functional teams.
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license and comply with all necessary agreements, including a non-compete agreement.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience with health insurance or Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas (BCBSKS) experience is preferred.
