About the Role

  • We are seeking an experienced Diagnostic Imaging Specialist to join our team, specializing in vascular and cardiac ultrasound procedures.

Job Summary

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sonography, with the ability to operate ultrasound equipment and perform general, vascular, and cardiac procedures. They will be responsible for accurately differentiating between normal and pathologic findings, reviewing patient medical records, and positioning patients for exams.

Responsibilities

  1. Operate ultrasound equipment to perform general, vascular, and cardiac procedures/studies, ensuring accurate differentiation between normal and pathologic findings.
  2. Review patient medical records to obtain necessary clinical information, including patient history, lab results, and physician orders.
  3. Position patients and select proper transducers and technical factors for accurate ultrasound procedures, adjusting factors as needed to attain optimal images.
  4. Use cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information, and images.
  5. Maintain records in accordance with various regulatory agencies, entering patient and study information into the radiology information system, and documenting billing codes of procedures performed.
  6. Analyze sonograms, synthesize sonographic information, and medical history, communicating findings to physicians.
  7. Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served, adhering to departmental policies and protocols.

Requirements

  • Certification as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) in Abdomen, OB/GYN, or Cardiovascular Physics is required within 3 months of hire date.
  • Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS-AE) registration with Adult Echo issued by ARDMS is also required within 18 months.
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required within 6 months.
  • Advanced training beyond High School that includes completion of an accredited or approved program in Sonography is required.

Working Conditions

  • This role requires prolonged standing, walking, lifting, squatting, bending, and twisting throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist, carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance, push/pull with 30 lbs. of force, and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with assistance.
  • May be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation hazards, as well as blood and body fluids, requiring personal protective equipment use.

Salary Range

The estimated annual salary range for this position is $85,000-$110,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
