Job Summary

Quality Technology Services, LLC is seeking a highly skilled Data Center Project Director to lead and manage a portfolio of facilities capital projects ranging in size between $25K to $30M. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction management, electrical/mechanical engineering, or architecture, with at least 10 years of progressive responsibility in developing mission-critical facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a growing capital portfolio of over $100M in facilities projects, including managing multiple large, multi-faceted projects
  • Prepare and present executive-level reporting to senior leadership on capital across the critical project portfolio
  • Develop strategic program views on portfolios of projects across over 25 sites in the US and EU
  • Monthly capital forecasts and projections, including working with site teams to develop annual and 5-year capital budgets
  • Monitor and control annual and 5-year capital budgets, as well as facilitate capital approval processes for incremental project releases
  • Develop cost models and estimating processes to improve capital delivery, as well as grow and mature project and program management disciplines across the portfolio
  • Mentor project managers and standardize project management practices, including recommending and enhancing project management information systems
  • Create and communicate updates on development programs and project status monthly, suitable for executive-level reviews
  • Effectively present information to support efficient decision-making, including evaluating and leveling pricing proposals for design, construction, and commissioning services
  • Work closely with strategic procurement teams on equipment procurement and delivery processes, as well as coach team members on establishing project schedules and managing teams to on-time completion
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including representing QTS interests as a leader in OAC meetings
  • Create and build relationships that enhance QTS's ability to be a leader in creating the world's most valuable data center real estate
  • Aid in due diligence efforts for potential new sites on an as-needed basis, as well as work with internal facilities development teams to enhance project management processes and protocols

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, electrical/mechanical engineering, or architecture, or equivalent experience
  • At least 10 years of progressive responsibility in developing mission-critical facilities, including 5+ years of experience in data center project construction with large-scale data centers or DC lease providers
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite, specifically PowerPoint for communicating program updates to executive-level, and Excel for creating and maintaining site program and individual project budgets
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing multiple large, multi-faceted projects
  • Experience with construction health and safety knowledge
  • Experience with customer deployment technologies and equipment, RCDD a plus
