Job Summary

Rackham Graduate School is seeking a temporary program assistant to support outreach initiatives, particularly focused on increasing access for undergraduate student participants in TRIO programs across Michigan. The successful candidate will work closely with the Rackham Academic Program Manager for Outreach to execute program content, plan event logistics, and facilitate engagement activities.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with the development of program evaluation tools and facilitate communication between staff and guests.
  • Anticipate and resolve participant problems or concerns, and complete related administrative tasks.
  • Build an outreach and communication model for prospective programs across Michigan, and develop internal communication to recruit and secure graduate student volunteers and support for campus visits and outreach engagement.
Requirements
  • Familiarity with diversity issues in higher education and the challenges faced by underrepresented populations.
  • Experience delivering programs in both in-person and virtual formats, including familiarity with Canvas, Zoom, and other virtual platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience in program development and implementation, with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects with attention to detail and meet deadlines, and work as part of a team with independent initiative.
Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Familiarity with diversity issues in higher education and the challenges faced by underrepresented populations.
  • Demonstrated experience in mentoring undergraduate students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Reasonable knowledge of University and departmental policies and procedures, University organization, and University protocol and governance.
