Cities Practice OverviewThe Cities practice at BerlinRosen comprises over 70 communications professionals who bring a unique campaign-style approach to strategic communications. We work with visionary clients in New York, Los Angeles, and other major cities across the country on issues ranging from healthcare, urban planning, affordable housing, issue advocacy, social impact, and progressive policy. Our team helps clients shape the future of cities by winning community and political support, policy change, elevating new projects and brands, and launching some of our city's most visited attractions.
About This RoleWe are seeking a Senior Account Executive to join our Cities team in New York. As a key member of our public affairs team, you will lead daily client relations, plan and execute day-to-day project deliverables, support and lead junior staff, and conceptualize integrated strategies, pitches, and media placements. This role requires a strong understanding of New York City and State politics and media, as well as the ability to handle multiple assignments at once, work quickly, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement strategy and campaign planning for multiple high-profile client accounts
- Manage clients daily, engaging with key reporters and editors
- Write and edit persuasive external and internal documents, such as press releases, op-eds, fact sheets, talking points, editorial board memos, and communications strategies
- Assist in the execution of a variety of public affairs tactics, including stakeholder engagement, in-person and digital grassroots organizing, and paid advertising
- Participate in business development opportunities and manage internal client teams, mentoring junior staff
- A minimum of 4 years of experience with strategic communications from working in politics, government, or advocacy, or with a PR agency, media outlet, or in-house communications team
- Familiarity with New York City and State politics and media
- Ability to handle multiple assignments at once, work quickly, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated relationships with reporters and strong news sense
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, with varying levels of staff, clients, the media, etc.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with a team to meet group objectives
- Proficient in Google and Microsoft software suites
