Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Sterile Processing Specialist to join our team at UCLA Health. As a key member of our sterile processing department, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe processing of surgical instruments.

About the Role:

  • You will work under the general direction of the Unit Director, Sterile Processing Manager, and Central Service Supervisors/MSOs to maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail in your work.
  • You will have a working knowledge of aseptic technique, sterile fields, and the principles of Operating Room decontamination.
  • You will utilize various decontamination equipment and instrument/tray sterilizers to ensure that all surgical instruments are properly cleaned and sterilized.
  • You will consistently demonstrate a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail in your work, prioritizing tasks as needed and knowing when to call for assistance.
  • You will work independently and as part of a team to achieve common goals and objectives.

Qualifications:

  • A High School diploma is required; a graduate of an accredited Sterile Processing program or Surgical Tech program is preferred.
  • A minimum of 6 months of experience in Sterile Processing is recommended.
  • CRCST certification (IAHCSMM) is highly valued but not required.
  • You must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively communicate with colleagues and other healthcare professionals.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range for this position is $50,000-$65,000 per year, depending on experience. Additionally, we offer a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as paid time off and opportunities for professional growth and development.

Location:

This position is located in Los Angeles, CA, and requires regular attendance at the UCLA Medical Center.

Working Conditions:

This role requires standing for long periods, lifting surgical trays weighing up to 25 lbs, and handling surgical case carts weighing up to 200 lbs. You must be able to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
