To be considered for the role, candidates must submit the following mandatory documents:
- CCSO Commissioned Additional Documents
- The Authorization to Release must be notarized; our HR office can assist with this if necessary. Candidates must present a valid Photo ID during the signing process.
- Proof of Education - Applicants are required to provide copies of their GED, high school, and/or college transcripts.
- Detention Deputy candidates must be at least 18 years old.
Hourly Wage: $23.44/Hour
Key Responsibilities:
- Transporting inmates and providing escort services for court appearances.
- Applicants must be current or former certified law enforcement officers with a minimum of ten (10) years of experience.
- Must have maintained good standing with previous law enforcement agencies.
The primary responsibility of this role is to uphold state and local laws, respond to emergencies, conduct investigations, and make arrests as necessary. Officers may be assigned to various specialized units, including but not limited to detention, patrol, investigations, community services, and SWAT. Supervision is provided by a Sergeant, with additional oversight from a Corporal. While some autonomy is granted, performance will be subject to regular evaluations and audits. Duties may be performed in various environments, including offices, detention facilities, and outdoor settings, often under challenging conditions.
Additional Responsibilities
- May participate in specialized units such as community services, warrant service, or SWAT.
- Work hours are non-traditional; shifts are staffed around the clock, including weekends and holidays.
- May be required to respond to emergencies outside of regular hours.
- Other related duties as assigned.
- A high school diploma or GED is required; some college coursework in criminal justice is preferred.
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the necessary knowledge and skills for the role.
- Must possess an Idaho driver's license.
- Idaho POST certification is required within one year of hire.
- Successful completion of a background investigation, including a polygraph examination, is mandatory.
- Ability to communicate effectively and discern verbal instructions.
- Visual acuity to comprehend written instructions and conduct surveillance.
- Manual dexterity to operate equipment and perform necessary duties.
- Physical capability to perform law enforcement tasks, including apprehending individuals and conducting searches.
