Job Description

The Kelberman Center Inc. is seeking a registered occupational therapist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating and assessing program participants, educating individuals and team members, and providing support and therapy services to students with ASD and developmental disabilities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Evaluating and assessing program participants on an ongoing basis.
  • Planning and implementing appropriate treatment and goals based upon the evaluation, and observations.
  • Educating individuals and/or team members about findings of the evaluation, established treatment plans, methods of treatment.
  • Collecting and maintaining data on goals.
  • Contributing to a positive work environment through collaborative teamwork and positive communication in alignment with Kelberman's culture, values, and mission.
  • Demonstrating excellent work attendance by being punctual and reliable for all scheduled shifts and meetings.
  • Adhering to mandatory reporting requirements and HIPPA laws.
  • Completing all required documentation according to program regulations.
  • Communicating with other health care professionals relating to all aspects of the Individual Program Plan IP and Individual Education Plan (IEP).
  • Ensuring compliance with all pertinent government and agency regulations and operating standards.
  • Assisting in orienting students, volunteers, and new therapists within the program; providing supervision for therapy assistants as required.
  • Providing assessment, fabrication, and modification and repair of adaptive equipment.
  • Participating in evacuation drills.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational therapy plus must be registered.
  • Minimum one-year experience in a related field.
  • Current OTR licensure.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances are warranted.
  • Knowledge of basic computer programs (including all Windows programs, Adobe Acrobat) are required. HRIS systems applications preferred.
  • Must have a valid NYS Driver's License.
  • This position has regular and substantial unsupervised or unrestricted physical contact with individuals receiving services and is required by law to be fingerprinted for a criminal history record check under OCFS (Office of Children & Family Services)
  • Job-related tasks involve possible exposure to blood, body fluids, tissue, or spills or splashes from these substances. May have exposure to unpredictable individuals and situations when working at Kelberman sites.
  • OSHA Exposure Category I.
  • The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time.
  • Must have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
