Job Overview
As a Caregiver with the State of Connecticut, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities. This position offers a unique opportunity for personal growth and development, as you work alongside our team to create meaningful experiences for those we serve.

About the Role
This part-time, second shift position is available at the George Street Family Respite Center in Waterford, CT. You will be responsible for implementing programs and procedures designed to achieve objectives in care of individuals with developmental disabilities. Your duties will include providing guidance and instructions to individuals in development of desirable personal habits, hygiene, and social relationships.

Key Responsibilities
* Implement individual program plans
* Provide guidance and instructions to individuals in development of desirable personal habits, hygiene, and social relationships
* Participate in preparation, serving, and feeding of meals to individuals
* Perform housekeeping duties necessary to maintain a clean and healthy environment for individuals
* May lead and participate in social and recreational activities designed to develop individual potential

Requirements
* One year of experience in the care and supervision of individuals with developmental disabilities at the level of a Developmental Services Worker 1 or equivalent experience in a human service field
* Considerable interpersonal skills
* Ability to recognize and report behavioral change
* Develop a positive relationship with individuals
* Lead and participate in recreational and occupational activities

Working Conditions
Incumbents in this class may be required to lift and restrain individuals. They may have significant exposure to communicable/infectious diseases and to risk of injury from assaultive/abusive individuals. Incumbents may be exposed to strongly disagreeable conditions.

Purpose and Scope
The primary purpose of this job class is to act as part of a team in an intensive programming effort designed for the care, guidance, supervision, and training of individuals. The scope of this job includes acting as a caregiver for individuals with developmental disabilities.
