Job Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to join our team in Washington, working with students who are Deaf or hard of hearing through our teletherapy platform.

About the Role

This position involves interpreting spoken language into sign language during live virtual classes and events, ensuring effective communication and access to educational content tailored to individual student needs.

Responsibilities
  • Interpreting Services: Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) during live virtual classes and events.
  • Communication Facilitation: Facilitate communication between educators and Deaf or hard of hearing students.
  • Collaboration and Support: Collaborate with teachers to understand lesson plans and student needs, and stay current on educational practices and technology used in virtual learning.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter.
  • Proven experience interpreting in educational settings, preferably K-12.
  • A strong understanding of Deaf culture and communication access needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in technology used for virtual learning.
  • Flexibility to work with diverse student populations and varying schedules.
