Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our NICU team at Saint Alphonsus Health System. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will provide general and emergency respiratory therapy procedures to patients as directed by physicians and protocols. This includes respiratory assessment, airway and ventilator management, bi-level non-invasive ventilation management, pulmonary diagnostics, delivery of medicated aerosols, bronchial hygiene therapy, lung expansion therapy, intubation, CPR, bronchoscopy assistance, arterial line placement, arterial sampling, and ABG analysis and interpretation.

Responsibilities:

• Assess changes in patients' clinical conditions and make independent judgments to modify care as necessary according to departmental policies and approved physician protocols.
• Routinely make rounds with physicians in critical care units.
• Act as a preceptor, actively support, and constructively contribute to the development of new and existing staff members.
• Know, understand, incorporate, and demonstrate the Organization's Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.
• Recognize changes in patients and modify care as necessary according to departmental standards and approved physician protocols.
• Perform airway and ventilator management, which includes assessment, application, intubation, monitoring, and evaluation of modality for infants, pediatrics, adolescents, and adults.
• Perform arterial line insertions, ABG sticks, conduct ABG analysis, and interpret results.
• Complete all mandatory-training requirements on time.
• Assist the department manager with Performance Improvement projects and other duties as needed.

Requirements:

• License to practice respiratory care in the state they are performing respiratory care services in (Idaho or Oregon).
• Registered as a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
• At hire, Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required. (ACLS and/or PALS may be accepted in lieu of BLS)
• NICU experience required.
