Job Summary:

The Database Systems Manager will provide direction, day-to-day coordination, and HR responsibility to the members of the application team. This role will have overarching responsibility for their respective applications' support, design, instruction, and ongoing optimization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct management of analysts, identifying and mitigating project risks, supporting the applications users, and assisting in the implementation of all application projects.
  • Oversee a team of analysts supporting clinical and diagnostic specialty applications, including device integration and associated middleware, pharmacy automation, maternal-fetal monitoring, and other clinical applications as assigned.
  • Work with DDTI leadership team to collect, analyze, and document technical, clinical, or business operations artifacts and translate problems into solution-oriented initiatives.
  • Develop and monitor the development roadmap for the applications in assigned area.
  • Evaluate current state processes and identify gaps to future state process around application use to maximize departmental and organizational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Communicate and apply project standards, create functional working relationships across application teams, assist in enforcement of project deadlines and schedules, manage resources in accordance with project schedule, and consistently deliver high-quality services to business stakeholders.
  • Understand the components of running a fiscally successful project, excellent verbal and written communication skills, assist in the facilitation of team and client meetings, able to independently represent team in operational meetings with corporate or facility leaders, demonstrate ability to communicate information to internal and external customers in a clear and concise manner, and display an ability to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully.
  • Prioritize and resolve issues, provide ongoing analysis, maintenance, and technical and functional support for systems throughout the organization, provide technical guidance to identify system deficiencies and analyze system problems and solutions, collaborate with business stakeholders to introduce innovative solutions, responsible for employment-related decision making in conjunction with department Director, responsible for team member performance evaluations, merit, and promotion decisions, facilitate effective team interaction, provide mentorship to team in areas of application support and leadership development, celebrate each team member's contributions, develop and foster relationships with business stakeholders, continually seek opportunities to increase customer satisfaction, responsible for defining work assignment and workload management for team(s), and escalation point for issue resolution related to area of influence.
  • Assist with departmental budget planning and resourcing, have a general understanding of budget processing and financial planning, responsible for ensuring staff members follow all travel policies and procedures, participate in after-hours support On-Call rotation, ability to travel up to 25%, provide on-site support during go-live or upgrade activations, able to participate in on-camera discussions using video conferencing platforms such as Teams or Zoom, embody and promote Core Values: Inquisitiveness, Team-Mindedness, Passionate, and Positive Attitude, participate in disaster recovery measures, and other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree (equivalent experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis)
  • Minimum of 7 years experience, either in operational or IT applications support for applicable business area
  • Minimum of 5 years in IT implementing and supporting applications
  • Established experience with large-scale/large projects with a team of 5 or more members
  • Experience developing project management skills, including standard work breakdown structure, resources and critical path, project scope, issues identification and oversight, change control processes, and stakeholder communications
  • Experience designing and supporting healthcare or business systems and integration with third-party applications
  • Experience with workflow and operations within a hospital or health system
  • Applicable Epic certification preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Proven ability to understand business issues and objectives as well as the ability to translate them into application solutions
  • Strong understanding in the areas of application technology and system design
  • Understands federal & state regulations pertaining to applicable business area

  • Proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and video-conferencing solutions
