Overview

Amedisys, a leading provider of home health, hospice and high-acuity care, is seeking a highly skilled Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our team. Compensation

The estimated salary for this position ranges from $25.00 to $42.00 per hour, reflecting the cost of labor across various U.S. geographic markets. Compensation may vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Provide physical therapy services and interventions under the direction and supervision of a physical therapist and in accordance with the physician-approved plan of care.
  • Observe, record, and report the patient's response to treatment and any change in the patient's condition to the supervising PT, physician, and other appropriate clinical staff.
  • Provide resources for future needs and promote wellness and prevention.
  • Document supervisory activities in the patient's medical record.
  • Monitor and document the patient's response to physical therapy intervention.
  • Participate in patient care conferences, inservices, chart audit activities, quality improvement activities, including OBQI and OBQM, and peer-review activities.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information relating to the physical therapist-client relationship.
  • Making recommendations for follow-up care in coordination with the agency that admitted the patient and utilizing other agency care providers to assist with referrals to community resources.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must possess:

  • A current license to practice as a physical therapy assistant, specific to the state you're assigned to work in.
  • Graduation from an accredited physical therapy assistant educational program as set by the Commission on Accreditation of Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).
  • One year of related physical therapy experience for PTAs entering home health care to ensure knowledge and skills are sufficient to safely provide physical therapy services to patients.
  • If less than one year of experience, approval from regional clinical leaders is required, along with appropriate mentoring and/or participation in a residency program.
  • Current CPR certification.
