Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Construction Professional to join our team as a Concrete Finishing Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for working safely and productively on various construction project sites, ensuring the quality of finished concrete surfaces.

About the Role

This position requires a high level of motivation, with the ability to complete assigned tasks efficiently and effectively. As a successful Concrete Finisher, you will have excellent communication skills, safety awareness, and attention to detail. You will work collaboratively with other team members to achieve project goals.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Use and monitor quality and production of straight edge and 'magic screed' to level/shape freshly poured concrete.
  • Check rod floor for flatness and ensure concrete slab is properly prepared for finishing.
  • Assist with truck chute and pump hose to place fresh concrete, maintaining accurate flow rates and pressure.
  • Operate 'edger', jointers, and straight edge to edge and joint concrete floors as required, achieving precise cuts and joints.
  • Finish slab edges using hand tools, such as trowels and floats, to create smooth surfaces.
  • Operate forklifts (with certification) to convey concrete finishing equipment between trucks and floor slabs and decks during and after the concrete finishing process.
  • Operate light and advanced equipment, including truss-type hardener spreaders, truss screeds, bull floats, and lifting equipment, to level and treat concrete slab surfaces.
  • Operate advanced-level trowel machinery and equipment in the concrete finishing process, producing high-quality finishes.
  • Perform Quality Control (QC) checks and patches defects with cement mortar as necessary or requested.
  • Apply specified amounts of surface hardeners on concrete to produce special surfaces, enhancing durability and aesthetics.
  • Erect curing mats or waterproof paper on concrete slabs, securing them with stakes or weights to prevent damage.
  • Coach and train apprentices and Concrete Finisher Technicians, sharing expertise and best practices.
  • Clean and maintain all hand and power tools used to place and finish fresh concrete, adhering to company maintenance standards.
  • Comply with all applicable company, state, and OSHA safety rules, regulations, and guidelines at the job site, reporting any hazards or incidents to supervisors.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic-level communication skills, including reading, writing, and comprehending technical documents and safety regulations.
  • Safety awareness, with the ability to recognize and correct potential hazards.
