Medical Office Assistant

The Medical Office Assistant plays a vital role in providing care and related services to patients in the clinic. This position requires excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Obtain and record vital signs and pertinent observations of patient visits.
- Prepare patients and assist the provider as needed.
- Perform and/or assist with phlebotomy, sterile procedures, diagnostic procedures, and other procedures within the scope of practice.
- Collect and process specimens.
- Facilitate patient flow and prepare examination and treatment areas.
- Communicate with patients by telephone and confer with the provider.
- Educate patients with special needs.
- Maintain laboratory records and patient results.
- Check medications for expiration dates.
- Demonstrate good verbal and written communication and telephone skills.
- Attend staff, educational, safety, and training meetings.
- Abide by policies and procedures of Ashe Memorial Hospital.
Must be willing to receive all required vaccinations. All new employees working must be fully vaccinated as a condition of employment (unless the new hire has requested and received an exemption). Candidates for employment will be notified of this policy requirement prior to the start of employment. After receiving an offer of employment, new employees must provide proof of vaccination or request and receive an exemption before beginning work.
