Employment Counsel Job Description

As a key member of our Legal Department, the Employment Counsel will play a crucial role in providing strategic employment guidance for our fast-paced company.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert legal advice and counseling on a wide range of employment issues, including recruiting, hiring, termination, employee relations, wage and hour, workplace accommodations, employee benefits, compensation, immigration, and associated best practices.
  • Partner with the People Team to provide day-to-day support on discrete employee matters, such as investigations into misconduct, performance management issues, and addressing potential conflicts-of-interest.
  • Support complex projects with cross-functional partners to enhance company-wide employment law compliance through the development of protocols for programs such as conducting workplace audits and classification reviews.
  • Draft, review, and maintain global employment policies and standard operating procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Prepare and revise a variety of employment agreements, including offer letters, contractor agreements, and vendor agreements.
  • Maintain self-service tools and employment-related resources in support of the People Team and other internal stakeholders.
  • Facilitate the collection of data and preparation of state and federally-mandated employment reports.
  • Review and evaluate HR platforms to provide guidance on features that enhance employee experience and compliance.
  • Assist in investigations and respond to inquiries or charges from state or federal agencies regarding employment-related claims or disputes.
  • Provide tactical support to outside counsel on all types of employment-related claims and litigation, ensuring alignment with the company's broader legal strategies.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of employment law experience practicing at a leading law firm and/or in-house at a large company.
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of U.S. and California employment laws.
  • Significant comfort in advising on a variety of HR issues, either through law firm experience or in-house.
  • The judgment and initiative required to own multiple projects from end-to-end.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a service-first attitude.
  • Fast and effective writer for internal document creation.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to think quickly and manage shifting priorities.
  • U.S. Person status is required due to access to export-controlled information.
  • Licensed to practice law in CA or DC.
  • Willing and able to work in Anduril's CA office.
  • Willing and able to travel 15% of the time to other Anduril offices, both domestic and international.
